About the PTA

The Parent Teacher Association (PTA) is excited about working with you and we look forward to a productive year by helping to enhance that important bond between school and community.

London Towne has approximately 900 students! If we can get every family to purchase the $10 membership (two adults) we would be able fund our current PTA activities plus introduce new programs as well as purchase needed equipment and supplies for our school.

In addition to your membership, we look forward to your valuable participation as a volunteer. Please see the Membership/Volunteer form to sign up! You don’t always need to be in the building in order to volunteer and joining the PTA does not mean you have to volunteer in any way. However, we welcome you to become a part of the school community by becoming a member.

Why should you join?

  • More than 30 years worth of research as proven that children do better when their parents are involved both at home and at school.
  • It is only with your support that we can fund our annual contributions for essential classroom supplies and materials, as well as provide supplementary staff training and other enrichment programs for our students.

What does the PTA do?

  • Sponsor school assemblies. For these assemblies, the PTA spends a substantial portion of the budget to ensure that our children will be exposed regularly to innovative, cultural, and educational events.
  • Fund School Field Trips. The PTA subsidizes the majority of all school trips. Although, some of the class trips do require additional fees from parents, the PTA's help reduces the costs to parent. Fairfax County Public Schools does not provide funding for class field trips.
  • Offer social programs that provide our children with opportunities to further enhance their social and community building skills. These programs include: "International Night, Bingo, Movie Night, and the Spring Fair.
  • Promote After School Programs. This year the PTA has increased the After School Programs to include additional classes and clubs. These include: Mad Science, Lego League, Girls on the Run, Girls Excelling in Math and Science (GEMS), Young Rembrandts, Soccer, Music, and more.
  • Provide teachers with annual stipends/grants to supplement and enhance the curriculum. The PTA also sponsors staff appreciation through breakfasts, lunches, and other recognitions.
  • Coordinate volunteer opportunities throughout the school and for special activities. These include: Picture Day, Health and Vision Screening, Field Day, Thanksgiving Luncheon, PTA Room Parent Program, etc.
